Powerstax has announced a convection cooling option for its N-03751-PFC (power factor correction) series of compact AC/DC switching power supplies. It is designed for outdoor, semi-sealed industrial applications and low noise office environments and is suitable for one under shoot rack mounted systems. The convection cooling option delivers 260W of output power across all output voltages. They do not require forced air for 260W operation and removing the fans reduces audible noise of end products, according to the company. The power supplies reduce overall system power consumption and cooling requirements and are not susceptible to failures due to dust clogging fans or airborne contamination of their circuit boards, says the company. The synchronous rectification technique of the power supply is claimed to deliver 93% efficiency. An optional active OR-ing MOSFET board is also available for N+1 redundant application. Both 5V standby and 12V auxiliary outputs can be wired OR-able when the main output is disabled. It has a footprint of 83.8x127.0mm and low profile of 38.1mm, an active PFC input over the range 90 to 264V AC and an operating temperature range of -25 to +50ºC. Output is protected against over-voltage, over-power, short circuit and over-temperature.
