Renesas Electronics Europe and its partner 3S-Smart Software Solutions have announced the availability of 3S' (Smart Software Solutions) automation software suite, CoDeSys, which supports the former's V850E2/MN4 series of microcontrollers. The microcontrollers are specifically aimed as single-chips for the industrial automation market. The series is claimed to be the highest performance flash-based microcontroller in the industrial market today and provides enough performance to run both a PLC application and full inverter control algorithm on a single chip. The software suite is used to develop industrial IEC 61131-3 controller application. It can be used to develop applications for manufacturer-independent automation software, supporting integrated fieldbus connections, visualisations and motion control. The development system is complemented with CoDeSys Control runtime system.
