Valpey Fisher has introduced the VFTX250, a TCXO (temperature compensated crystal oscillator) for wireless communication systems. The oscillator delivers frequency stability of ±0.5ppm and is available across the industrial temperature range of -40 to +85°C in a 2.5x2.0mm surface mount device ceramic package. The TCXO offers output frequencies up to 52MHz in the low-power clipped sine wave output with supply voltages ranging from 2.8 to 2.5V. Typical current consumption is 1.1mA and the oscillator also has an output enable and disable option to minimise battery drain. According to the company, the small size of the oscillator allows for efficient use of board space and product designs expansion. The oscillator is suitable for wireless and portable applications such as hand held test equipment, portable navigation devices, wireless meter reading, and RFID, where power consumption is critical.
