TRIAC-dimmers were designed to dim incandescent filament lamps, but as these lamps are being replace with LED systems, it was found that using them with TRIAC-dimmers its phase modulation caused flicker that is visible to the naked eye. Recom has released the RACT20-family of AC/DC-drivers that can be dimmed linearly and without flicker from 100% down to zero. The drivers have a specially developed TRIAC input, which is not affected by the PFC-circuit of the driver; making it suitable for dimming LED-systems. The drivers are available with either 230 or 115V AC input. They offer 20W and can support five to 15 power LEDs or LED-chains, with constant currents of 350, 500, 700 or 1050mA. The power factor is greater than 95% and therefore better than required by EN 61000-3-2. The drivers are EN/UL 60950-1 certified and have a design lifetime of over 70.000hrs and a five-year warranty.
