Microchip has unveiled the MCP6N11, an instrumentation amplifier for signal and sensor conditioning in consumer, industrial and medical applications. The amplifier features the company's mCal technology, an on-chip calibration circuit that enables low initial offset voltage and a means of controlling offset drift, which is said to be highly accurate. Its low-power CMOS process technology provides a gain bandwidth of 500kHz. The amplifier has a hardware shutdown pin and operates at 1.8V, which allows two 1.5V batteries to be drained beyond typical use, says the company. Its rail-to-rail input and output operation is claimed to enable full-range use in low-supply conditions. The company claims that the amplifier has low-power shutdown, extended battery life, less self-heating, and good dynamic range. The amplifier is available in 8pin SOIC and 2x3mm thin dual flat no-lead plastic packages.
