Nitronex has introduced the NPA1004, a high-gain power amplifier for military communications. The amplifier features integrated input matching, inter-stage matching, and RF biasing, which helps in reducing the footprint of the power amplifier signal chain, according to the company. The amplifier achieves 27dB signal gain, 50W saturated output power and 55% typical drain efficiency across 1 to 2GHz. The amplifier is housed in a 0.28in2 package and features an off-chip output match. According to the company, the high gain of the monolithic microwave integrated circuit amplifier eliminates a driver stage, and simplifies the design and manufacturing processes.
