Linear Technology has announced the H-grade and MP-grade versions of the LT3690. The LT3690HUFE and LT3690MPUFE are 36V input capable, synchronous step-down switching regulators that can deliver up to 4A of continuous output current at efficiencies of 93%. The regulators operate within a VIN range of 3.9 to 36V, and offers transient protection to 60V, making them suitable for load dump and cold-crank conditions found in automotive applications. The regulators Burst Mode operation requires 70µA of quiescent current, suitable for automotive or telecomms systems.
The H-grade version operates from -40 to 150˚C and the MP-grade version operates from -55 to 150˚C. Electrical specifications for the H-grade and the MP-grade are identical to the E and I grades.
Both regulators are available in 26-lead, 4x6mm QFN packages. The regulators have an integrated 30mΩ N-channel synchronous switch and a programmable input under-voltage lockout.
They feature IQ of 70µA at 12VIN to 3.3VOUT and have low ripple Burst Mode operation that allows output ripple of less than 15mVpp. The regulators have 0.8V feedback reference voltage and 0.8 to 20V output voltage. They also feature programmable and synchronisable oscillator of 170kHz to 1.5MHz. Other features of the regulator include soft-start-up and output voltage tracking, short-circuit robust, and power good flag.
