Arasan Chip Systems has announced the availability of SD 4.0 host controller IP core, the latest addition to its flagship SD (secure digital) IP product family portfolio. The IP core is compliant with the latest SD specifications, physical layer v4.0 and host controller v4.0. It supports FD156 or full duplex 1.56Gbit/s, and HD312 or half duplex 3.12Gbit/s operations. The company's SD 4.0 host controller IP is designed to integrate SDIO 4.0 and eMMC (electronic multimedia card) 4.5 host controller into a single IP.
The company's SD 4.0 or eMMC 4.5 host IP is claimed to accommodate the increasing capacity for the embedded software. It has native support for all SD, SDIO and eMMC commands. It is also backward compatible to earlier specifications, including SD, SD high capacity, SD extended capacity, SDIO, MMC, and eMMC, claims the company. It has built-in hardware support for multiple data protection schemes such as mechanical switch-based, password, temporary, or permanent write protection. In addition to traditional password based, host configurable write protection schemes, the SD 4.0 and eMMC 4.5 host controller IP also supports the replay protected memory block feature of eMMC 4.5.
The company enables technology adoption by providing a "Total IP Solution" for its host controller IP, consisting of register-transfer level code, synthesis scripts, verification IP, software stacks, and hardware development platform.
The host controller IP is available with advanced eXtensible interface bus, or alternative buses such as advanced high performance bus and open-core protocol bus.
