Rohm has announced the BU94702AKV encoder designed for the development of a USB audio decoder IC that enables audio playback of MP3 files from CD-ROM and USB memory.
The decoder is suitable for different file formats along with car audio featuring high ESD resistance. The additional features of the encoder includes memory card host functionality, MP3 decoder, advanced audio coding decoder, windows media audio decoder, file allocation table file system, and a music search function. It allows track selection during playback. Also, built-in low dropout regulators and DAC circuits enable easy configuration of an audio system by connecting a power supply audio amp, and speakers. It is claimed that the VQFP80 package makes it possible to add audio functionality to applications beyond audio-only devices, such as alarm clocks, relaxation products, electronic dictionaries, and digital cameras.
