Omron Electronics Components has launched the EE-SY1200, a 3.2x1.9x1.1mm reflective photomicrosensor that is for use with automated mounting equipment. The photomicrosensor is an optical sensor that can detect objects or object positions between one and 4mm away using an optical beam. When the object is located in the sensing area, the object reflects the optical beam of the emitter, thus changing the amount of optical energy reaching the detector. The photomicrosensor is suitable for applications including the paper pass and edge detection in office equipment and cash machines, the motion and tamper detection in gambling and metering equipment, and safety applications such as end of travel detection cover presence confirmation and moving part proximity detection. The photomicrosensor offers a detector solution, which is based on the company's moulded interconnect device technology. The photomicrosensor features a minimum light current of 200µA and a maximum leakage current 500nA. It is available in a surface mount termination and in tape and reel packaging. The photomicrosensor operates in the -25 and 85°C range and also incorporates an emitter and a detector.
