Kontron has announced the embedded Box-PC MICROSPACE MPC-p2 for graphic applications. The fanless PC is based on the accelerated processing units of the AMD embedded G-series, which along with a 64bit CPU also integrate a programmable graphics unit with a footprint of 130x99mm.
The PC offers hardware acceleration for flash-based applications. In addition, the integrated unified video decoder assists the processor when high resolution graphics have to be displayed. OEMs can create graphic-oriented applications in areas such as digital signage, media playback, gaming and POS applications.
The single-core AMD T44R processor integrates an AMD Radeon HD6250 graphic unit and DDR3 memory controller up to 4Gbyte DDR3 RAM. For data storage, the PC offers a 500Gbyte hard disk drive or a 40Gbyte SSD for high shock and vibration resistance. To enable slim installations the system can be booted via an integrated micro secure digital card slot or via LAN. Analogue or digital monitors with a resolution of up to 1900x1200pixels can be connected via the digital video interface on the front. Six USB 2.0 and up to four serial interfaces RS232 or transistor-transistor logic via D-subminiature connectors allow for direct connection. Two GbE interfaces allow for direct integration into network structures without the need for additional extension cards, says the company.
