Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a multilayer ceramic chip capacitor featuring an integrated resistor and low electrostrictive ceramic formulation for repeated charge and discharge cycles. For high-pulse-current applications, the VJ CDC (controlled discharge capacitor) offers voltage ratings from 1,000 to 1,500V DC, and a capacitance range from 33 to 560nF.
According to the company, the capacitor allows the CDC to discharge fast and also reduces the board space requirements. The applications for the device include detonation devices like munitions, pyrotechnics, blasting and electronic fusing. It is claimed that the capacitor is manufactured in noble metal electrode technology with a wet build process.
The capacitor is offered in 3040, 3640, and 4044 case sizes with the range of 33 to 220, 47 to 330, and 100 to 560nF, respectively. It also offers an operating temperature range of -55 to +125°C and a temperature coefficient of ±10% from -55 to +85°C with the X5P and ±15% from -55 to +125°C for the X7R dielectrics.
