Two LED illumination modules from Leica Microsystems can be used in industrial applications to identify the finest structures, faults, scratches or dust particles on surfaces, claims the company. The LED5000 series has been designed for the company's high-end stereo microscopes; the LED3000 integrates into routine stereo microscope systems. Both are complemented by the spotlight, ring light and multi-contrast illumination modules, so that users can choose the illumination level for a stereomicroscopic task. The LED5000 RL ring light is a universal illumination. There is also the multi-contrast illumination LED3000 MCI with four integrated LED spots which produce high contrast: The flat angle brings into vision unevennesses and impurities such as scratches and dust particles, according to the company. Module lifetimes are up to 50,000 hours and save up to 90% of the power of a 150W halogen lamp.
