Multiple 3G/4G power amplifiers from RF Micro Devices are used in two newly introduced smartphone families. The first, an all-touch model with a 3.2in display, a 5Mpixel camera with video recording ad pre-installed social networking apps, features the company's PowerSmart, multi-mode, multi-band cellular RF architecture. The second smartphone, features the RF7241, RF7242, RF7244, RF7245, and RF7258 power amplifiers, is a smartphone with a high resolution touch display, a tactile keyboard, and a precise optical trackpad. The smartphone will be available in multiple triple-band 3G versions featuring the company's 3G/4G PAs exclusively. The RF724x UMTS/HSPA+ power amplifiers are high efficiency, single-mode 3G/4G components that deliver ultra-high peak efficiency of 48 to 51%, which is significantly above current competitive offerings, says the company. The family currently covers WCDMA bands one, two, four, five and eight, addressing the most common UMTS/HSPA+ frequency bands and band combinations. PowerSmart devices have an RF Configurable Power Core that delivers multi-band, multi-mode coverage of all cell comms modulation schemes, including GSM/GPRS, EDGE, EDGE Evolution, CDMA, 3G (TD-SCDMA or WCDMA) and 4G (HSPA+, LTE or WiMAX). The core complies with current and known future 4G standards (HSPA+, LTE QPSK, LTE 16QAM, and LTE 64QAM).
