Designed to be attached to a robotic arm, the Macro Sensors miniature CD 375 LVDT linear position sensors detect position change and provides an analogue voltage signal, proportional to the amount of motion, to a controller. The controller then makes adjustments based on programmable set points to determine when the robotic arm should stop or slow down. As well as industrial robots, they can also be used in hydraulic actuators, servo valves and medical equipment. The AC-operated linear position sensors are available in full-scale measurement ranges from ±0.63 to ±50mm and offer a 50% larger core-to-bore radial clearance than similar sized competitive units, says the company. Units feature repeatability error of less than 0.01% of FSO, high resolution and the high sensitivity consistent with its maximum linearity error of ±0.25% FRO. They operate in temperature extremes of -55 to +105°C.
