Recom has introduced the RCD-48 series of step-down, constant-current buck drivers suitable for high power LED applications. With an input voltage of up to 60V DC and current outputs of 350, 500, 700 and 1200mA, the drivers power up to 70W. They are suitable for operation with the long LED chains and large multi-chip arrays and operate between -40 and +85°C. The drivers are dimmable down to zero with external digital PWM or analogue control, according to the company. The PWM control input can be directly connected to a microcontroller. The drivers are available with pins for PCB mounting or with flying leads for non-PCB applications. While the 1200mA version has a metal case, the small models are designed in plastic cases. All the drivers are certified to EN/UL-60950-1. The MTBF is specified at MIL-HDBK217F with 1.7 millionhr.
