Sundance has introduced the SMT105, a PCIe/104 type 2 card with integrated dual fibre optical transceivers to operate in a host-free, standalone environment. The addition of the type 2 card to the company's line of PCIe/104 modules enables PC/104 stacks to be connected to each other or to other data sources via the duplex fibre interface, says the company. The fibre connection supports transfers of 100m at 4Gbit/s and 500m at 1Gbit/s. The card has a 256Mbyte buffer storage, USB2.0 interface, micro secure digital slot, multiple RS232-C transceivers, dual SATA interface for local backup and more than 100 LVDS I/O pins. Linux support is available for the on-board PowerPC 440 core. The card can be used to acquire and transfer the data at high-speed from a remote location or a harsh environment to a host computer via fibre.
