The MESA 7I70 is a 48 point remote isolated field input card for real-time, PC-based control systems used in industrial automation and machine tool applications. The card communicates with the host via an RS422 link using standard Cat 5 cables for wiring. It is supported by the company's FPGA cards, which present a parallel register interface to the host, with all protocols handled by the smart interface. One FPGA card can support up to 32 external devices and up to 3072 control points at a 10kHz service rate for all points, says the company. The card has 48V DC inputs with variable threshold sensing. The inputs have LED status indicators and removable screw terminal field wiring. Default input threshold is 50% of field power voltage with 20% hysteresis but input thresholds are individually programmable from 0 to 36V DC.
