A wireless monitoring and control system for solar panel installations can allow individual panel parameter tracking and control. The Smart Junction Box reference design using GreenPeak Technologies' wireless chips monitor solar systems in more detail and controls the chain from a central unit or remote device. By adding wireless smart junction boxes on individual panels, up-to-the-minute status information on electricity generation of each panel can be provided. This also allows the operator to switch off individual panels or panel substrings to optimis overall solar panel system performance. Performance metrics enable system owners and service provider to monitor the condition of the solar panels for maintenance. The data collected from each panel can also be shown in a configurable GUI software application. Remote monitoring via a mobile app on a smartphone is one possibility.
