Phihong has announced the PSA160 standard open frame power supply that offers up to 160W for information technology and multimedia applications, for example, cable TV. The 2x4in power supply unit is available in 12, 24, 48 and 56V DC outputs and is suitable for use in 1U racks for many networking applications. It features over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protection, with cUL, UL and CE safety approvals. In the event of a voltage surge or over-load, the power supply unit will automatically restart while the output can be shorted permanently without damage, claims the company.
The power supply unit operates between -20 and +70°C, and enable load de-rating at 45°C with forced air cooling and at 40°C without fan cooling. Without the addition of 12.6CFM forced air cooling, the output rating is reduced to a maximum of 90W, says the company. The power supply unit has efficiencies between 86 and 88% at 115V AC input, and between 88 and 90% at 230V AC input. It measures 101.6x50.8x34.5mm. The 12V model weighs 185g and the remaining models in the series weigh 195g.
