AU Optronics, a Taiwanese TFT manufacturer, has developed two new products in "stretch format". These displays are now available from Data Modul. The "stretch format" makes it possible to support modern applications that previously did not have a suitable panel. These new displays are also called "cut panels". A display with a panel size of e.g. 55.9cm (22in.) is basically cut lengthwise which creates a complete new product with only 1/3 of the original panel size. The G190SF01 has got a resolution of 1680 x 342 dots. LED backlight and an already integrated LED driver provide a typical brightness of 300cd/m². The panel has a contrast ratio of 2000:1. It has a physical size of 493.7 x 124.8 x 18.5mm. This panel is ideal for all applications where height is a limitation. The display can be used in portrait mode as well as in landscape mode. This is due to it being equipped with MVA technology, which allows a very good viewing angle from all directions. The G151EVN01.0 is a similar product with a ¼ cut of an original 48.26cm (19in.). It will be available in the first quarter of 2012. It has got outline dimensions of 396 x 100.8 x 17.3mm and a resolution of 1280 x 248 dots.
