Taiwanese buffer memory and system-on-chip specialist Etron Technology has appointed Ismosys as its pan-European representative/stockist. Etron is a fabless IC design and product company that offers cutting-edge Known-Good-Die-Memory (KGDM) and consumer electronics DRAM (CEDRAM), including DDRI DRAM, DDRII DRAM, SDR DRAM and low-power SDRAM. Etron's system-on-chip products include USB 3.0 host controllers and webcam controllers. Ismosys EMEA Maqnaging Director Nigel Watts (pictured) thinks that the interaction between human vision, memory and connectivity is generating unprecedented demand for Etron's premium-quality products and advanced developments. "Etron technology is enabling, for example, naked-eye 3D experience through 3D webcams, on-board camcorders and USB 3.0 8-port devices". Watts said. He cited the burgeoning 3D image capturing, motion-recognition and display technology is a case in point. "This sector is growing fast, but the hardware is complicated and pricey. Etron was already setting the pace with its controller SoCs for PC cameras and realised the need to continue the trend if it was to enable manufacturers to make real inroads into the 3D/HD consumer market. The company has successfully applied its SoC technological expertise in the impressive eSP668 and eSP768 3D webcam controllers, which Ismosys will offer at very attractive price points." The eSP668 3D webcam controller has been developed for HD webcam applications. The eSP768 3D webcam controller targets 3D image/video capturing & conferencing applications, and features Etron's proprietary 3D capture technology to support a variety of formats such as anaglyph, polarised and shutter lens. Etron also brings a comprehensive range of SDRAM chips - available in densities ranging from 8Mb to 1Gb - designed to ensure high-speed buffer memory processing in automotive electronics applications. Ismosys will represent Etron Technology in Central Europe, France, Italy, Nordic, Turkey and the UK & Ireland.
