Vishay Intertechnology has expanded its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of the TSOP57x series of remote control IR receivers. The RoHS-compliant IR receivers have a height of 0.8mm, and an angle of sensitivity of 150°. The receivers' level of sensitivity results in a receiving distance of 40m. The IR receivers are suitable for use in flat-panel LCD, plasma TV displays, set-top boxes, stereo systems, and in-room air-conditioners. At an off-axis angle of 45°, the IR receivers retain 85% of their on-axis sensitivity, according to the company. They absorb some infra-red light when they are placed behind cosmetic windows. The IR receivers include the company's intelligent automatic gain control and provide good noise suppression, according to the company. The IR receivers have peak sensitivity of 940nm and are available in modulation frequencies of 36, 38, 40, and 56kHz.
