Linear Technology has announced the release of the LT3580, a current-mode, fixed-frequency step-up DC/DC converter with an internal 2A, 42V switch. It operates from an input-voltage range of 2.5V to 32V, which makes it suitable for applications with input sources ranging from a single-cell Li-Ion battery to automotive inputs. The product can be configured as either a boost, SEPIC or inverting converter. Its switching frequency can be programmed between 200kHz and 2.5MHz via a single resistor or synchronised to an external clock, enabling designers to minimise external component sizes and to avoid noise-critical frequency bands.
