Solomon Systech has launched a new single chip TFT LCD driver, SSD2220, for mobile display applications. This driver supports TFT LCD with 240x432 (wQVGA) resolutions and it will be a suitable resolution option in mobile phone and Portable Media Player (PMP) applications.
The SSD2220 is a single chip driver IC. It features a multi-time programming (MTP) for voltage calibration, separated RGB gamma correction to optimise display performance, and charge sharing technology for power consumption improvement. It also provides a true 262K colour with 64 levels of middle voltages for grayscale generation. This ensures a true 262K colorful display performance.
Solomon Systech's SSD2225 is scheduled to be launched by December 2007. It is a high speed interface version of SSD2220. The SSD2225 features a Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) for high data rate transfer with low EMI and minimal pin count. Only four signal wires are required.
Dynamic Backlight Control (DBC) Solutions further power savings. The average power consumption savings will be over 50% for certain display pictures and video data. It supports same wQVGA resolution TFT LCD display. Same pad coordinates are designed to share same LCD panel for SSD2220. It saves additional masking charge for new panel tooling.
