Using Sabeus' proprietary MVCS (Multi Variable Control System) control feedback loop, the AG-1 is a low-phase-noise tunable laser that comes in a fully integrated package including drive circuit, optical frequency reference, frequency-stabilisation circuit and TEC control circuit. The 76.2x101.6x16mm unit has a phase-noise reduction of over 30dB. It has a tuning range of up to 3nm, with center wavelengths ranging from 1528 to 1570nm, and the maximum deviation over the full life and operating conditions of the device is specified at ±250MHz. With an output power ranging from 5 to 17dBm, the laser supports an optional channel spacing of 6.5GHz or less, up to 12.5, 25, 50 and 100GHz depending on the model. The unit is shipped with PM or SMF connectors with 1m of cable. Frequency, power, linewidth, phase noise, and output are all controlled by software via an RS232 interface.
