The TPS61170 is a high-voltage boost converter with an integrated 40V, 1.2A FET and a wide input-voltage range of 3 to 18V. The high-efficiency device supports boost, SEPIC (single-ended primary inductor converter) and flyback topologies, which are used to regulate single or dual Li-Ion-battery inputs. Available in a 2x2mm QFN package, the converter simplifies design in industrial or medical POL applications, such as 5 to 12V or 12 to 24V systems. The IC operates at a fixed switching frequency of 1.2MHz, allowing the use of tiny, low-profile inductors and low-value ceramic input and output capacitors. The boost converter offers a single-wire digital serial interface and pulse-width modulation inputs, which allows the device to dynamically adjust the output voltage during operation. Other features include soft-start, over-current limit and over-temperature protection.
