With the E910.16 ELMOS Semiconductor offers a cost-effective standard product for fan control. DC motors can be driven comfortably with the instantly available ASSP. The integrated circuit controls the voltage proportionately depending on a predefined control voltage. It delivers the gate voltage for one or two external power FETs. Sudden setpoint changes in control voltage are converted into smooth motor current transients. In case of sluggish, stalled or short-circuited fan motors, the motor is protected against destruction by an operating point dependent current limitation of the power FETs. The sleep mode with low standby current of type 50μA is activated when the control voltage drops below a minimum value. The IC is suited for the use in automotive, industrial and consumer goods applications. The features include: supply voltage range 7.2V to 17.5V; overload protection; low standby current; limitation of power dissipation by an operating point dependent maximum current; externally adjustable excess temperature protection with regulating trait; control of the current distribution in parallel power FETs; turn-on power FETs as overload protection; -40°C to +125° operating temperature; and SO16w-package.
