Teridian Semiconductor has announced the availability of Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Laboratories (WHQL) approved Chip Card Interface Device (CCID) drivers for Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit platforms for use in conjunction with Teridian's 73S1217F and 73S1215F USB connected ISO7816 smart card reader integrated circuits. The addition of Windows Vista drivers enhances Teridian's 73S1215/17F Software Development Kits (SDK) that includes support for Windows XP and Linux operating systems. System developers using Teridian's 73S1215F or 73S1217F ICs gets access to a complete turnkey PINpad, LCD, smart card reader solution, immediately usable under these environments. Teridian's 73S12xx smart card reader IC product family is also compliant with EMV 4.1 level 1 (Europay / MasterCard / Visa) and ISO7816 compliant software delivering advanced capabilities including accelerated system level EMV approval, and lockable on-chip Flash memory.
Teridian's 73S1217F and 73S1215F are 8-bit microcontrollers with built-in smart card reader, PINpad and communication features, offering on-chip 64KB Flash. With Teridian's software suites, these ICs are suitable system-on-chip solution for low-cost PINpad readers targeting digital identification, logical access and e-banking or can be used as smart card reader bricks freeing a system's main processor of the smart card / EMV (Europay / MasterCard / Visa) tasks. Teridian also provides source code of its "CCID over USB" firmware so that developers can build upon Teridian's ISO-7816, EMV, USB and CCID layers, saving development time and engineering costs. Teridian 73S1209F, 73S1210F 73S1215F and 73S1217F smart card readers IC are currently available in production volumes.
