Cypress Semiconductor has introduced PSoC NV devices, which integrate a non-volatile static random access memory (nvSRAM) and a programmable system on chip. The PSoC NV devices integrate configurable analogue and digital circuits, controlled by an on-chip microcontroller. These secure-store data logging devices have an analogue front-end that can simultaneously sample eight inputs from sensors and analogue sources and store the data in the embedded nvSRAM. Regular operation accesses are directed to an SRAM array and automatically secured into a non-volatile quantum trap cell in case of power failure. This data can be recalled on power up. The devices have a 20-year data retention capability. The PSoC NV devices feature a 64-, 128- or 256-kbyte nvSRAM with a throughput of 100kbit/s, a M8C-based core at 24MHz, 32kbyte Flash and 2kbyte SRAM. These devices have 12 analogue blocks that can be programmed to create an ADC, DAC and comparator and eight analogue channels with 820samples/s sampling rate. The PSoC NV devices also include 16 digital blocks that can be programmed to create timers, counters, PWM, UART and SPI. The other features include programmable GPIOs, an I2C interface, watchdog and sleep timers and on-chip precision voltage reference. These devices operate at 3.3V and in a temperature range of -40 to +85°C.
