Custom pro-audio potentiometer prototypes for professional audio applications are now available from BI Technologies. They are used in a variety of foot-pedal, guitar, amplifier and pre-amplifier applications. The company has been working with instrument designers and manufacturers to develop standard and custom potentiometers; it believes that the design of these panel potentiometers provides life-cycle advantages over comparable products. The products offer pro-audio manufacturers superior rotational consistency, claims the manufacturer; it adds that the use of conductive plastic inks provides increased stability, reliability and life-cycle counts. The potentiometers are available in a range of both metric and imperial sizes to meet requirements. The standard product offering includes—but is not limited to—multiple gangs; centre taps; A, B, and C tapers; and a variety of bushing sizes. The potentiometers are available with plastic or metal shafts and feature power ratings from 0.03 to 2W. Life cycles range from 30,000 to 2million rotations. Prototypes are available in two to four weeks, and the company can provide custom-tooled units with lead times of eight weeks.
